Wednesday Weigh-In Week 3

It’s WEDNESDAY!!!!  That means its time for the weekly weigh-in over at Shrinking Jeans, and I am thrilled to say I am down 2.6 lbs this week! 

That’s ABSO-FN-LOOT-LY Fabulous! 

Total lost for the challenge is 4.6 lbs so far.  Three woots!  Woot-woot-woot!    I finally got to the 40 lbs total loss mark….and surpassed it making my total as of this morning 41.4 lbs!  I can’t imagine ever going back to my old weight, even when I get pregnant I hope to top out at 170 or something not pushing 190 like I was last summer. 

Had a small loss last week with my friend TOM visiting.  Did good all week on the food front, with the exception of pizza for dinner on Saturday and leftover pizza for both meals on Sunday, maybe my body needed a jolt away from the regular stuff I had been eating.  I’m certainly not planning to start eating like this again, but I’m so thankful it didn’t hinder my weight loss this week.  Stopped drinking diet soda for breakfast and switched to coffee with SF creamer.  It helps too since I have been getting up at 5 to exercise a few times a week.  Much better since the temps have been 80-90 here this week.

Finished Level 3 last week and moved onto Banish Fat Boost Metabolism from Jillian.  It is an hour long and is a tough workout.  Its more kickboxing and cardio than The 30 Day Shred was, nice change and apparently my body is liking it too.  Got up this morning to do it, but only got half way done.  Just wasn’t into it…have a lot on my mind this week and felt myself petering out so I did my cool down and called it a day.  Gonna do some more landscaping tonight so I will get some activity in just not BOOSTing.

Next weeks goal….1 pound.  Cake walk right?  We’ll see…we have a 50th birthday party on Saturday and there will be lots of tasty cold beverages consumed.  Might need to check into that MGD 64!



Shred Level 3 Results

Well I finally made it…I finished level 3 of the 30 Day Shred.  OK, I guess I didn’t officially finish it, since I quit yesterday which was day 8, but my right shin/leg is aching and has been getting worse everyday.  I’m thinking it might be all the plyometric work involved in Level 3, so I decided today would be my rest day and tomorrow I will start something new.

Here are my numbers from Level 3.

Weight loss for Level 3…..down 1.6 lbs

Inches lost during Level 1…..10.5 inches

  • Bust…down 1.5 inches
  • Lower Abdomen…down 2.5 inches
  • Lower Hips/Hiney….down 1.25 inches
  • Knees…down 1.75 inches

Hmmm…let’s see what I can I say about level 3. I did get winded more often than in the other levels (duh it’s the last level) and ended up taking more breaks, especially during the walking push-ups and jumping pliats.  I really felt the pain during the combo arm/leg lift in plank pose things, whatever the heck they are called.  Normally ended up doing one regular set and one set on my knees.  I ended up doing all the jumping jacks without weights once I realized (which was quickly) that my legs move quicker than my arms…and I always was banging the weights into my thighs.

I did notice more knee and lower leg pain more during this level than in any of the other levels combined.  Thinking its due to the combined jump moves and maybe before the jacks and knee lifts and butt kicks weren’t as high impact as the stuff in level 3.  I will do it again and love the way it made me feel, stronger from the inside kinda feeling that I haven’t had in a long long time.

Again, did this level in less than 2 weeks, so the weight loss is small but again had a big loss of inches which is wonderful!  Kind of confused how I lost inches on my knees when they ached so much…maybe it was the lack of fat that made them hurt so much more!  Haha!

Yum…pumpkin oatmeal!

I found a recipe for pumpkin oatmeal, and I made it tonight to have for breakfast tomorrow.  If I like it, I’ll post the link. 

Worked out after dinner, and have another one planned for 5AM so I think a hearty oatmeal breakfast will get me thru the morning!   Hoping for a good WI on Wednesday morning…feeling a little TOM bloaty so gonna chug lots of water to help flush out any lingering bloat.

First Impression of Level 3

Ouch. Ouch. Double Ouch. Yep that basically sums the last 12 hours up for me.

Felt great doing the workout yesterday early afternoon.  resumed to using my weights for almost everything.  Only  exception was the Jumping Jacks with weights (after realizing my legs move much quicker than my arms when they are holding 5 lbs in each hand and nearly bruising the outsides of my thighs).  So just put down the weights and did regular jacks instead.

Woke up with horrible back pain.  I can only describe it as the muscles on the sides of my spine feel like they are squeezing it.  I’m wondering if it’s from the last set of plank things where you hold yourself up on the weights, do an armlift followed by a leglift.  That was hard and made me feel like my shoulder was going to pop out of socket, but wondering if it somehow pinched my back muscles too.  Anyone else experience pain like this with level 3?

Again being as uncoordinated as I amrealizing that I am, I’m sure I  looked like an idiot trying to do the jumping lunges from one leg to another…kinda felt myself jupming and then putting my lower leg back gently like a horse galloping.   So I’m sure I looked like some kind of fairy on PCP or something.  But I kept trying and I  pray hope that I get better the further along I go. 

Then of course, there is the aching pain in my inner thighs from those damn jumping squats!  Yowza those were painful!  I know they will work and who doesn’t need inner thigh work.  (If you don’t please don’t tell me about it, I have this fantasy that everyone suffers from that, makes it easier to see my jiggle.)  LOL!

So overall, Level 3 had me hurting more while doing it, but I don’t think I sweat as much as I did in Level 2 but maybe that’s because I spent most of the time watching what they were doing to be sure I was doing it right, but I hurt today a little like I did after starting Level 1.  Hope I see results.  I ordered a bikini today…first time I will have worn one in probably 5 years…so I am motivated to make something happen!!!

30 Day Shred Level 2 Results

I finished level 2 of the 30 Day Shred a few days ago and thought I would update you on where I am.  This level got done in 2 weeks versus the month the first level did…so that was a plus!  Averaged doing it 4-5 times a week and at least once on the weekend.

Well here are my numbers from level 2.

Weight loss for Level 2…..down 2.6 lbs

Inches gained during Level 2…..1.75 inches

  • Waist/Upper Abdomen… down .25 inch
  • Lower Abdomen…up 1 inch
  • Hips….no change
  • Lower Hips/Hiney….up 1.5 inches

WTF!!!  yeah, I know that I feel like I have a little less jiggle, and that I did this in half the time that I did the first phase, but I really didn’t think I would gain inches!!!  URGH!

My thoughts on level 2.  I loved the oblique twists, leg lift crunch combo, plank jumps and stationary lunges.  I HATED the pendulum lunges and plank lunges!  I got a bad sunburn about half way thru the second half which made using my weights very painful rubbing against my sportsbra.  So I didn’t use them for much and maybe that is why I haven’t lost any inches.

I am proud of myself for finishing level 2 and I feel stronger than I did for level 1.  Every time I did Level 2 I felt more energized afterwards.  It seems like there was more ab work in the form of planks and less cardio than in Level 1, but I sweat like a pig every workout.  Every.Single.Workout.I.Sweat.Like.A.Pig!!!  That’s a good thing!

My hopes for level 3, which I started today is to finish it in less than 2 weeks again.  I hope I notice a difference in my belly bulge that doesn’t seem to have changed much during this level.    I also plan to try to use my weights for the whole thing, obviously I have proven to myself that weight training does melt inches!

TGIF update

Happy Friday everyone!  Been busy at work this week, closing the books for May.  Got a lot of workouts in, everyday except Tuesday.  Including one last night and another this morning.  Finished level 2 of the 30 Day Shred yesterday (yeah me) and will move onto level 3 this weekend.  Plan to take my measurements tonight and post update tongiht.  I’m so ready for the weekend, been a draining week!  Nothing big planned which is nice, need to do some housework and get the pond cleaned up a bit. 

I think I did something to my left knee last night Shredding, put some icy hot on it before bed, hoping it would be better by morning, but it was still achy this morning.  So instead of sticking another session of Shredding like 6 hours after the last one, I switched it up and did Biggest Loser Yoga.

So what do I think about this yoga?  Never having done yoga, I didn’t really know what to look forward to, but thought it would be a good stretch for my tender knee.  It was about 30 minutes, and felt the burn it in my thighs on several of the lunges and my core was tight on the plank like moves.  When I was done, I kinda felt like I cheated and didn’t really work out!  I was not dripping with sweat like I do after Shredding…had I really burned any calories doing this?

To top it off, before starting my workout this morning, I get on the scale for my “regular” Friday weigh in…and it was up a pound from last week!  Urgh….how frustrating!  I know it might be because my muscles were still tight from working out later last night, but yesterday it was down almost 1/2 a lb from last week!  Sucky, but I’m not letting it stop me by any means, but I would have liked to have seen the same number or a little less than I did yesterday.  Oh well, as long as it’s down by next Wednesday for the Sisterhood WI, I will be ok.  I’ll just keep plugging along like I have been…knowing that even if the scale isn’t showing it, I’m making the right choices!

You did what on a Friday???

It’s Friday…and I got my Shredding in after work before the hubby got home.  So proud of myself for doing it.  Planned for an off day, but thought since we were getting pizza tonight for dinner, it wouldn’t hurt to go ahead and burn some calories.  This is huge for me, as I normally don’t work out on Friday’s and ease into the weekend.
